Wuf, Amhui Province in East China, has prioritized aerospace and low-altitude economies in recent years.
Based in the city's Wangzi district, CETC Wuhu Diamond Aircraft Company was established in 2013 through a partnership between China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) and the Wuhu city government.
The company moved quickly to offering its first aircraft in 2017, from signing a foreign technology license in late 2013.
Over the past three years, we have completely absorbed foreign know-how and established strict production standards.
A major milestone occurred in 2021 when independently developing a CA42 aircraft with twin engines and four seats that received a type certificate (TC) from China's Civil Aviation Authority.
This recognition marked a victory for domestic aviation. The CA42 aircraft was the first aircraft to feature a fully indigenous avionics system, engines and other important components. This achievement overcame previous limitations imposed by foreign technical barriers.
Tian Manlin, the company's general manager, highlighted the long-term dedication needed in this area. “Low-altitude manufacturing is a lifelong effort. It requires patience and a long-term perspective.”
He added that as an industry leader, he has a responsibility to drive innovation that empowers not only itself but others throughout the supply chain.
The company's journey coincides with the Wangzi district's strategic focus on building modern industrial systems and exists as a prime example of China's growth capabilities in advanced aviation manufacturing and technology independence.
