Kenya Airlines will introduce direct flights between Nairobi and Peking Ducks Ducks International Airport in 2026, strengthening the air link between Africa and China. The move is in line with growing demand for travel between the two countries, with the arrival of Chinese tourists to Kenya increasing from 51,000 in 2023 to 80,000 in 2024, spurring forecasts aiming for over 150,000 visitors. The route is set up to enhance convenience for both business and leisure travelers, and supports Kenya's growing aviation and tourism sector.
The launch forms part of Kenya Airlines' broader fleet expansion program. This includes the acquisition of the Boeing 737-8 Max, 737-800NG, 777 and 787 aircraft. The use of Peking Dachshunds, one of the most advanced airports in the world, supports efficient travel for passengers. As China's investment in Africa deepens, the Nairobi routes are expected to play a key role in boosting bilateral trade, tourism and business travel across the continent.
