Ireland-based ECT Aviation delivered the first Britten-Norman BN2T-4S Islands aircraft and marked its entry into dedicated cargo operations. According to an official release from British aircraft manufacturer Britain Norman, the aircraft will operate on high-frequency cargo routes, primarily connecting Lyon Cent Excely Airport (LFLL) with major destinations in North Africa.

The flight will be operated in partnership with Aviation Services Provider Avico, with an emphasis on the transport of high value, time-sensitive cargo such as pharmaceuticals, artwork, precious metals and important documents.

In addition to this first purchase, ECT has signed the second BN2T-4S Islander Intention scheduled for delivery in early 2026. The planned expansion reflects the company's strategic intention to build a freight fleet market focused on dedicated regions that require a return to speed, flexibility and operational.

Headquartered in Lyon Bron Business Airport (LFLY), ECT Aviation, registered with Dublin, currently operates the Pilatus PC-12 NGX for business aviation and Medevac services throughout Europe. The addition of the BN2T-4S Islander marks the company's entry into scheduled cargo operations, and is expected to begin by late 2025 after aircraft delivery this fall. These cargo operations are carried out under the German Aircraft Certificate (AOC) via Pro Air.

“We have seen consistent demand from clients who need fast, flexible logistics to areas well-served by traditional airlines. The BN2T-4S offers the right combination of rugged performance and modern avionics to provide reliable cargo operations on short and even remote runways.

The BN2T-4S is the biggest variant of Britten-Norman's famous islander utility aircraft. It features a Twin Rolls-Royce 250 B17F turboprop and features a telescopic fuselage that increases internal cabin space by 30%. With a maximum takeoff weight of 8,500 pounds, the aircraft supplies 805 nautical miles (1,491 km) and over 7 hours of endurance, retains the islander's signature STOL (short takeoff and landing) capabilities, making it suitable for operation from remote or unprocessed air strips.

The aircraft is equipped with the latest Garmin G600 TXI glass cockpit, including a 10-inch primary display, a GTN 750/650XI NAV/GPS unit and an ADS-B out transponder, supporting increased safety, regulatory compliance and pilot efficiency.
