Millions of travelers traveling through Jet2, Ryanair and EasyJetand TUI is urged to avoid being slapped on a shocking bill against the 6-pound rule. Experts urged passengers to confirm their mobile phone contracts Before heading to your destination.

According to Uswitch, a price comparison website, if your mobile phone contract does not include data roaming, you may be charged up to £6 for each data you use. Simrat Sharma, a mobile expert at Uswitch, said that switching to ESIM stands for embedded SIM – could be cheaper than using international roaming. “ESIM makes network changes easier,” she said.

“For example, if you're abroad, you can quickly connect to your local network and pay local fees without having to add or replace a physical local SIM card to your device.

“This means that Travel ESIMS is almost always cheaper than using international roaming, as users effectively utilize the same network plans as locals.

“The software can be easily accessed through the device's app store and uploaded to your phone in a few simple steps.”

But Birmingham Live We report that setting a roaming spending cap before using your data overseas will help you avoid unexpected invoices.

Expert Ernest Doc explained: “Many networks look at allowances and apply additional fees if roaming is not included.

“If you're in doubt, contact your provider and talk about the roaming cap and what you can use with your current transaction and what costs this.”

Some of the UK's largest mobile phone providers allow customers to fine-tune plans and contracts before they head abroad.
