Panic in Mallorca as prices have been cut in Greece and Türkiye by British travel agencies | Travel News | Travel

A British travel agency has begun Reduce holiday prices to Greece and Türkiye as Middle Eastern tensions are affected region. Holidays can be obtained in both countries for just £300, and there's yet another holiday headache on the popular Spanish island.

Reported on Monday (June 30) the cheapest deal comes with TUI from Gatwick Airport to Cabos in Corfu, available for just £228 on July 13th. Meanwhile, JET2 Holiday is the UK's largest package holiday company, trading under £300 this week on a weekly holiday from Stansted to Parga in northwest Greece (2 July) and on a weekly holiday from East Midlands (3 July), Birmingham, Turkey and Marmaris (4 July). However, according to the Jet2holidays website, a stay in Mallorca is currently being offered for a minimum of £858 in the same week.

For example, starting July 4th, we will be staying at the inside at the Melia Calvia Beach Hotel in Magaluff for two adults. Stansted, luggage, bed and breakfast and coach transfers are currently available for £1,942.

However, you can stay at Grand Park Lala in Antalya, Turkey. The same inclusions exceed 300 pounds.

Mallorca is facing growing concerns about affordable prices as a holiday destination, indicating it is too expensive for many tourists, especially families. This is due to a variety of reasons, including rising costs for accommodation, food and even tourism taxes. The popularity of Balearic Island has increased prices and led some travelers to seek cheaper alternatives.

In early 2024, TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel warned that it is becoming “increasingly difficult” for families to fund holidays to Mallorca and other archipelagos. He said he was looking for cheaper alternatives to the island, such as Bulgaria, which his family described as a “serious alternative” for the 2025 season.

However, the Ministry of Balelic Tourism appeared to be “relaxing” about the statement, particularly as prices increase reflects an attempt to focus on quality tourism rather than quantity. This sparked concerns about the impact of visitors on local infrastructure, the environment and home prices after a massive tourism demonstration took place across the island in 2024.

These protests continue this year, with widespread protests taking place in the Canary Islands such as Barcelona and Madrid, as well as the mainland city of Palma de Marolca. At the end of the protest at Majong Capitan, about 100 young people surrounded tourists sitting on the bar terrace and reportedly jealous of them for about 30 minutes. Police were forced to protect the villa, and the Balearic government said this was an unacceptable behavior.
