Cargo operator Air Hong Kong has discontinued the last Airbus A300-600 cargo ship and concludes the seven-year fleet renewal process, in which carriers operate only A330 cargo ships.
The Cathay Pacific-owned airline also delivered the 14th final A330 freighter, raising the fleet from 10 a330-300 passengers to a freight conversion aircraft (A330-300P2FS) and four A330-200FS.
The airline began the refreezing process in 2018, introducing its first A330 freighter. The A330FS offers more payload and longer range. Air Hong Kong says it has allowed it to expand to new cities such as Bahrain and Sydney.
The large jet replaced the old Air Hong Kong A300-600FS, and the airline opened in 2004 on behalf of Key Customer DHL Express. Since then, the fleet has grown to 15 jets.
Air Hong Kong manager Clarence Tai says the A300F was “stubborn” in the operators' fleet.
“We have contributed not only to our business, but to the entire Hong Kong Air International Hub, and as we entered this exciting new chapter, we said goodbye to this precious fleet member,” Thailand adds.
