Visa has announced that Tareq Muhmood will be appointed regional president of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEMEA). In his new role, the established visa leader will be responsible for key operations across more than 86 innovative and rapidly growing markets. Visa's CEMEA business today serves more than 1,800 clients from 23 local offices throughout the region.
Muhmood brings over 30 years of banking and payment experience to this role. He recently served as head of value-added services for London-based Visa in Europe and joined Visa in 2019 as a Singapore-based group country manager for Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Visa, Muhmood established senior leadership positions at Ahli United Bank, ANZ and HSBC. Muhmood is based in Dubai and will report to Oliver Jenkyn, president of Visa's Global Market Group, and will immediately assume a valid role.
Muhmood replaced Andrew Torre, who was recently appointed president of Visa's value-added services business, rapidly growing into a $900 million global business, bringing an annual revenue growth rate of 20% since 2021.
“We have appointed a leader with deep experience at the intersection of financial services, technology and high-growth markets, leading Visa's fastest growing region and continuing our journey to advance the future of digital payments across CEMEA. Tareq works in 13 countries and is a unique global perspective, world-class leadership, and outstanding customer partners.

“It is a great honor to continue the incredible progress made to lead the CEMEA region and change the future of payments, commerce and monetary movements in so many dynamic markets. Having spent more than a third of my career in the region, I am excited about the incredible opportunity to further expand digital payments among more consumers, merchants, the economy and among more people.
