South African National Parks (SanParks) is holding a small, medium micro-enterprise (SMME) information workshop in the Tsitsikamma section of Garden Route National Park, reaffirming its support for community-based economic development. The session, held on June 18, 2025, attracted over 80 entrepreneurs from surrounding communities and focused on building business capabilities, understanding the procurement process and accessing funding opportunities.
This workshop is part of SanParks' Vision 2040 strategy and its Megalibing Grandscape initiative, and includes integrating Tsitsikamma into a larger Addo region. The event, provided in collaboration with SSA Investments and Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency, covered topics such as the bidding process and financial support, including the SanParks Sanlam Fund. This zero profit facility will help the SMMES Bridge funding gaps in securing contracts. The initiative also fostered networking between Sunpark and local businesses with the aim of enhancing comprehensive economic participation in tourism ecosystems.
