Gabriella Shipman, a recent graduate of South Africa's Swissotel School, has turned to meaningful impact in the hospitality industry. Her journey highlights how a genuine love for people and a focus on personal growth paves the way for future success.

From a young age, Gabriella loved working with others and making them feel comfortable and cherished. “Hospitality felt like a natural fit because it allowed you to create memorable experiences every day,” she shared. This passion for connection and storytelling has guided her throughout her research and early career.

Her education at the Swissotel School played a pivotal role in shaping her skill set. “It provided a complete blend of theory and practical experience, especially with overseas internships,” explained Gabriella. Her exposure to different cultures and work environments strengthened her foundation and prepared her to thrive in a diverse environment.

Gabriella's interests focus on the front office and marketing, where she establishes relationships and shares compelling stories. “First impressions are everything and I love being the first point of contact,” she said. Marketing also excites her. Because she can combine creativity with the skills of her people, which excites her.

Through her academic journey, Gabriella has developed key skills such as pressure, teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem-solving. These attributes contributed to her immediate success in the workforce and earned her recognition as one of the top employees of the month at her new company.

Reflecting her cultural background, Gabriella brings warmth, resilience and compassionate spirit inspired by Ubuntu's South African values: the idea of unity and compassion. “I aim to make everyone feel like they're home no matter where they come from,” she emphasized and emphasized her approachable and adaptable nature.

Gabriella envisions leadership roles in the future, managing front offices and marketing, and hopes to influence how brands connect with their guests. She is also passionate about mentorship and is keen to guide future hospitality students, just as others have guided her.

Her choice to study at the Swissotel School was driven by the reputation of the facility and the opportunity to gain international experience through international internships. For Gabriella, stepping into a real-world environment was always about expanding her horizons and challenging herself.

Her passion for hospitality was ignited by the future leadership challenge. This is the experience of opening the door and confirming her belief in her potential. “The programme taught me how much I can achieve in this field,” she recalls.
