Compare Ryanair, EasyJet, Wizz Air Legroom | Travel News | Travel

Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz Air are popular airlines for travelers as they offer low airfares across Europe and are even further apart, such as Jordan and Morocco. However, legrooms are often limited as the aircraft operates in all economical layouts.

This makes travel difficult for tall passengers who are forced to choose from limited options, such as fronts of planes or emergency exit seats. Unlike other flag carriers like Qatar Airlines, these low-cost carriers focus on keeping customer service as low as possible rather than prioritizing it. Leanair once said it was announced. “If the seat or door size does not meet your specific needs, you may not be able to board the plane.” So, which of Europe's leading low-cost airlines offers the most legroom?

Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz Air are three major low-cost carriers in Europe.

The Wizz Air's Airbus A320neo plane consists of 180 Geven Essenz Slimline economy seats, while the EasyJet aircraft comes with 186 Recaro SL3510 Slimline seats. EasyJet seats have a seat width of 29 inches (35 inches in the exit row) and a seat width of 17.7″; Wizz Air Seats have the same width and offer seat pitch of 28-29 inches (37 inches in the exit row). The A321neo (the larger cousin of the A320neo) has the same seating on both airlines, with the 239 being Wizz Air and the EiseJet equipped with 235.

On all these aircraft and both airlines, the seatbacks are fixed and do not recline. The setup is designed for functionality and comes with a fixed headrest. Those who need extra legroom can book either the exit row or the front row seating.

Ryanair currently operates only two types: the Boeing 737, the Boeing 737-800 and the Boeing 737 Max 8-200. The Max 8-200 is the most modern aircraft in the Ryanair service, with the higher seating configuration of the Max 8.

Up to 8-200 consists of 197 Zodiac Z110 Slimline seats offering a seat width of 17.7″ which is the same as EasyJet and Wizz Air. The seat pitch is also similar, varying between 28 and 29 inches, with 35 inches in the exit row.

These seats have seat backs that do not recline.

In short, all three airlines are roughly the same seat pitch and seat width for current generation Airbus Neos and Boeing Max aircraft. Although Wizz Air says it offers “both standard and premium seating options,” these seats are mere front row, front row and emergency exit seats offering additional legroom. EasyJet also offers upgrade options to these seats, offering extra legroom.

Which budget airlines offer the most legroom?

    Ryanair Boeing 737 Max 8-200:

    Number of seats: 197

    Class: All Economy

    Seat pitch: 28-29″

    Seat width: 17.7″

    Seat reclining: None

    easyjet a321neo:

    Number of seats: 186

    Class: All Economy

    Seat pitch: 28.5-29″

    Seat width: 17.7″

    Seat reclining: None

    Wizz Air A321neo:

    Number of seats: 180

    Class: All Economy

    Seat pitch: 28-29″

    Seat width: 17.7″

    Seat reclining: None

According to this data, EasyJet offers the most legroom due to its slightly larger seat pitch of 0.5 inches.
