Tourists were fined locally in Polisia in Palma for purchasing sunglasses from illegal street sellers. This is the first sanction since the implementation of Parma's new Civic Ordinance on people purchasing goods from unlicensed sellers on May 26th.
The official sanctions say the buyer was fined for “purchase from a street vendor without a public road license,” and the fine does not disclose the fine. Police took action in total 11 pairs of sunglasses were seized from buyers. The measure came as part of a broader push to reduce illegal sales in order to protect Parma's legal business.
The city council has launched a campaign to warn residents and tourists about the potential risk of purchasing items from unlicensed sellers.
The unauthorized street sales regulations classify it as a “serious crime” and licensed sellers face fines ranging from 750 euros (642 pounds) to 1,500 euros (1,285 pounds).
Depending on the situation, buyers may face a penalty between 100 euros (85 pounds) and 750 euros (642 pounds).
Holiday makers may also want to hone other regulations, including the fact that many of Spain's beaches have become smoke-free areas. Popular Mostercan spots like Llucmajor, Palma and Magaluf have restricted alcohol sales from 9:30pm to 8am, tightening them with happy hour offerings.
A fine of 750 euro (642 pounds) could be placed on your card for those who want to throw a noisy party without permission. Valencia's crackdown includes a potential fine of up to 3,000 euros (£2,570) for unauthorized tent pitching.
