Boeing and the Ministry of Transport of Angola Register a Memorandum of Understanding of Strategic Cooperation

    – The contract will work with TAAG Angola Airlines to investigate initiatives to promote the development of Angola's aviation sector

On June 18, 2025, Le Bourgette of Paris – Boeing (NYSE: BA) and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Angola have signed today's memorandum of understanding of strategic cooperation to explore an initiative aimed at moving the Angola Airlines sector forward in a partnership with TAAG Angola Airless.

The Republic of Angola prioritizes the development of the aviation industry to enhance tourism and stimulate economic growth.

Signed at the 2025 Paris Air Show, the memorandum outlines several areas of the Boeing and TAAG Angola Airlines collaboration. This includes efforts to increase operational efficiency through digital transformation, enhance technology and maintenance capabilities, optimize and expand market networks, and support fleet modernization and growth.

“TAAG Angola's national airline, Angola, has been the basis of Africa's aviation landscape since its inception in 1938. As we navigate the complexity of the rapidly evolving global market, it is essential that airlines not only remain competitive, but adopt modernization,” Angola.

Minister Viegas D'Abreu continued. “This partnership with Boeing represents an important step in our commitment to strengthening operational capabilities, improving technology and maintenance capabilities, and expanding scope. By investing in modern technology and practices, TAAG Angola Airlines aims to respond to the existence that exists today as a leading airline in Africa. Investing in new international airports lays the foundation for a sustainable and prosperous future for the aviation sector.”

“This partnership highlights Boeing's commitment to helping the aviation sector grow in Angola and continues to expand the capabilities of TAAG Angola Airlines,” said Brad McMullen, Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing at Boeing. “We look forward to building on nearly 80 years of supporting commercial aviation in Africa.”

Boeing planes account for almost 70% of Africa's commercial fleet, run by over 60 airlines. According to Boeing's 2025 commercial market outlook, Africa will need more than 1,200 new planes over the next 20 years to meet growing demand.
