People planning to visit Spain or already participating have been issued warnings with authorities urging them to be “very careful.” Spain is the most popular destination for British travelers, with millions of people from the UK traveling to Spain every year.
Industry experts predict that international travel will be extremely busy this summer, with millions expected to visit Spain in the coming months. Anyone visiting Spain or trying to visit has been given a warning this weekend.
Previous updates to Twitter X have been updated from the official statements of the Spanish Civil Protection and Emergency Bureau, saying that the risk of forest fires is “in very high/extreme areas”, urging people to be “very careful”!
This followed an earlier update that amber and yellow heat warnings are in place for most of the country.
The Spanish Minister of Home Affairs also moved to provide some advice. The update says, “Expose yourself to the sun. Eat light meals. Stay hydrated. Dress properly. Do not leave children or elderly people in the car.”
Aiming for next week, Spain's National Meteorological Agency AEMET said it expects the heat to last until June 29th. The expert added:
“And from that day onwards, the heat will return to this very warm end of the week.”
