A new era of dawn of African exploration in the northwestern region of Zambia

A fascinating 30,000 hectares of sanctuary in the Kaondo region, just 30km/19 miles north of Kahue National Park, Lorerunga's private reserve welcomes its first guests in August 2025.

The name “Lorrelunga” is a blend of two words: “Roll,” the nickname for the owner's last born child, and “Lunga,” the name of the beautiful river that forms the northern boundary of the reserve. The Lunga River originates from the Congo and is a perennial plant, characterized by its most distinct and clean waters.

The reserve also features Swampy Terrain, a habitat of Sitatunga, one of Zambia's unique antelopes, on its logo.

Located along the banks of the Lunga River, Lorelunga offers an exceptional environment for families and safari enthusiasts in search of ethical and transformative travel. Particularly in this post-pandemic world, discerning travelers will prioritize experiences that directly contribute to conservation and benefit the community. Not only does Lolelunga offer this, it also offers exhilarating wildlife encounters while making concrete differences.

This destination is perfect for couples and small groups, offering bespoke service and flexible itinerary. A 4-5 night stay will allow guests to fully immerse themselves in the natural wonders of Lolelunga and this spectacular setting, balancing adventure and relaxation.

Witness the incredible rebirth of this once-Balen landscape into a thriving ecosystem. Lolelunga stands as evidence of the power of conservation that careful management and deep respect for the land have driven exceptional biodiversity and the reintroduction of the game. Responsible travelers will witness firsthand the positive impact of choices on both the environment and the community.

The return of wildlife, including the elusive sitatunga, and the recent release of five cheetahs, speaks volumes about the unwavering dedication of Lorelunga owners to restore the rich biodiversity of the region. It is the reincarnation of a vibrant ecosystem.

    Conservation and community success stories

Lolelunga's decade of transformation is a testament to the power of regeneration. After being damaged by deforestation, logging and poaching, the area has meticulously recovered thanks to a deep partnership with the local Kaondo tribe. Surprisingly, many of the dedicated wildlife rangers in the reserve are the very wilderness guardians themselves who once threatened them. Today, Lorerunga offers a genuine Big Five photo safari experience of lions, cheetahs, buffalo, elephants and soon black rhinoceros as Zambia's first fully fenced private reserve.

The Zambian owner's commitment to building a legacy for future environmentalists shines through its own wildlife management project. The successful 2024 reintroduction of five cheetahs paves the way for future projects like the reintroduction of black rhinos in the coming months, further cementing Lorerunga's position as a conservation beacon.

Lolelunga Private Reserve: A modest luxury in the heart of the wild

Lolelunga can accommodate only 14 guests in a selection of secluded accommodations combining three standard king rooms, two junior suites and one family suite, with two special standard king rooms combined with convertibles. Amenities include a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, spa and a variety of dining areas.

For an unforgettable romantic experience, the Ngoma deck can be booked for private dining or Starlight sleepouts.

The Lodge's design philosophy is the result of South Africa's boutique interior design company Fygg Studios, and the emphasis on understated elegance. The approach that works closely with the client, providing a friendly and realistic design process, in this example, each spacious suite provides a breathtaking view of the Kuni River, while natural materials such as stone, wood and textiles create a seamless connection with the surrounding wilderness.

    An unforgettable safari adventure

From thrilling game drives to quiet fishing expeditions, Lolelunga offers a completely comprehensive package that covers everything, including accommodation, all the activities, food, drinks and more. Explore local wonders with our expert guide through a variety of activities, including:

Exceptional bird watching archery in canoe with 2 game drive walking safari catch and release fishing guide

Young guests can discover their adventures at the Lolelunga Nature Navigators Club.

But the impact of Lolelunga is far beyond its thriving wildlife. They also invest deeply in the community, constructing two secondary schools, excavating over 50 boreholes for freshwater, and providing agricultural support to 500 families. The brand new private runway has allowed critical medical supplies to reach six local clinics.

A multi-generational family seeking a shared adventure, honeymooners craving a magical escape, avid birders with ready binoculars, an avid angler hoping for a trophy catch, or a seasoned safari enthusiast craving a genuine impactful African experience, Lorelunga offers something extraordinary.
