Airplane passengers confused by plane seat map unexpected symbol | USA | Travel

Aircraft passengers looked at the map and found unexpected symbols in many seats while booking to sit on upcoming flights. Reserving a seat in advance for many airlines is not a requirement, but it is usually recommended. This is especially recommended if you are traveling with friends you want to sit with.

Many airlines allow free seat selection during the check-in process and also charge to select a specific seat. Many passengers are keen to reserve a seat before their trip to ensure a more comfortable or desirable seat.

Many people don't want to sit in the middle, some want to be near the toilet, and others prefer a window seat.

One person was surprised after seeing a plane seating map on an upcoming flight from Kansai International Airport, based at Vancouver International Airport in Sea Island, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.

Visiting Reddit, they shared screenshots of the aircraft seating map. Passengers did not specify which airline they flew with.

Confused, the passenger asked: “I'm flying with all the animals? I just checked in to fly for Kix -> YVR and my second flight have this leg symbol in almost every seat?

“Do you know if this actually means there are pets or random bunches of animals, or if anyone has seen this?

Fellow Reddit users visited the Comments section to share their thoughts. One simply said: “No, that means those seats are pet friendly.”

In response, others stated: “The bundle's only sane and joke answer! The foot symbol represents a seat that is permitted to place a small pet in a carrier under the seat in front of you (assuming you meet the requirements and you paid for it).

“Pets are not allowed in other seats because there is often less space under the seat.”

Others raised issues with pet allergies and the potential risk of moving near animals. One commented: “This is not a pet-specific issue.

“Some people are allergic to perfumes, gluten, nuts, dust, etc. It's unfortunate for sensitive people, but airlines can't house it and plan it.”

When I agreed, someone else said: “It's your responsibility to let the airline know if it's a pet.”

Another said, “I'm more of a dog than a screaming child.” Someone else said: “So, don't I have the right not to sit next to a dog?”

One responded: “No, just like you don't have the “right” thing to be “wearing perfume, eating nuts, or sitting away from someone who is a heavy set.

“But I think you can ask the flight attendant about medical concerns and maybe find a sympathetic flyer to find a sympathetic flyer.”

In another post on Reddit, another person asked the same question after finding an animal symbol on the seating map and wondering what it means.

One advised: “If you have a pet, you are facing these seats. It's a regular seat, but it's just marked as people know!”

Not all airlines are pet-friendly. If you have concerns about animals before boarding a flight, it is best to check with the airline you booked in advance.
