For me, going to the airport is just as much an experience as the holiday itself, and it's important to make sure I have a cute but comfortable outfit. That's why tracksuits, in my opinion, are the best for travelling.
On the way home, I really don't care what I look like (usually a leggings and t-shirt situation after wearing a swimsuit all day), but there are ways I'm really excited in a way full of hope and possibilities.
So when I flew from Manchester Airport to Palma last month, I knew that a juicy couture tracksuit was a must-see. It really means a lot to me that comfort, cuteness, carving all the boxes sparkly on top and bottom, and Y2K has that moment again as Zilennial. Of course, for maximum comfort, I paired it with uggs. Yes, I was flying to a hot country, but we had arrived at night and the transfer had air conditioning so it was fine.
We unloaded our bags, headed for security and sighed at Ahrelief's relief that the queue wasn't long despite the fact that we had accidentally booked a holiday during the half-year period.
Security told me you could keep your jacket and liquid in your bag, which is great, but I've already taken off my jacket and put it in the tray.
The tray handler asked me, “Are your pants the same?” When they gestured to the Diamante “Jucci” on the back of my tracksuit top.
“Yes,” I said turning around and they could see it for themselves. They laughed at themselves and said they definitely stopped when they passed the scanner.
Behold, when I walked through the scanner, something flagged it, it was my tracksuit. I was asked if there was anything in my pocket, but it didn't, and I was sent to check my shoes.
When I left, the person working for security advised me not to wear my juicy tracksuit to the airport again if I didn't stop. This is not the first time I've heard this advice, but it's too comfortable and cute.
To be honest, I think I'll be stopped and searched to some degree with security and usually thanks to jewellery, I'll just stop it anyway. But I thought that there was no metal in the tracksuit with Diamantes in it, and it was all plastic, but who knew.
Anyway, when the person looking for me is polite and friendly, I really don't mind being stopped at the airport. I have definitely had some sleazy experiences with security staff at various airports around the world, but thankfully, when I run out of Manchester they are usually pretty hilarious and are there to do the job instead of acting like Jobsworth.
Someone at X calls airport security a “humiliation ritual” and I've been made to feel this way in the past, but it's definitely not common. I can't lie, but when I'm waiting for security I get a little nervous to see how that person treats me.
I'm not the only one who has experienced this at the airport. Several women have used X to share their experiences wearing juicy couture diamante items at the airport.
One woman wrote: “My loose, juicy couture track pants had to place the airport security scanner and get a puttdown and explosive test.”
Someone else shared: “I experienced airport security in juicy couture pants and my butt flagged,” cried with a laughing emoji.
