Etihad Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines are energizing their strategic codeshare partnerships and offering additional travel options to Africa, Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
This was the first step in the established partnership between Etihad and Ethiopians in March 2025, and “it is aimed at unlocking travel opportunities for passengers across both networks,” Etihad announced in a statement on June 9, 2025.
“By leveraging the combined network, we unlock seamless travel opportunities between Africa and Asia, Australia and the Middle East,” said Alik De, Etihad's chief income and commercial officer. “A simple connection through Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa will increase flexibility, boost trade and tourism, and provide an unparalleled travel experience for guests of both airlines.”
Ethiopians will begin operations from Addis Abababore International Airport (ADD) to Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) on July 15, 2025. Additionally, Etihad Airways will introduce daily flights to Addis Ababa from October 8, 2025.
The Codeshare Partnership allows travelers to simplify their journey, along with the convenience of sending their luggage directly to their final destination by making one booking in one check-in process first.
Under this partnership, Etihad passengers will have access to Ethiopian Airlines' African network and will connect to 55 locations in 33 countries via Addis Ababa. These destinations include Entebbe, Kinshasa, Kigali, Lusaka, Harare and Victoria Falls.
At the same time, passengers from Ethiopian airlines can book itineraries connecting to Etihad-operated flights via Abu Dhabi, further serving 20 major destinations in the Middle East, including Asia, Australia and Sydney, Krabi, Colombo and Phnom Penh.
