Etihad Airlines and Ethiopian Airlines have launched a strategic codeshare partnership that strengthens the air link between Africa, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. As part of the agreement, Ethiopians will introduce flights between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi from July 15th, and Etihad will begin daily services to Addis Ababa from October 8th. This collaboration allows travelers to book a seamless itinerary with single check-in and baggage transfer across both carriers' networks.
The move marks the first stage of a broader joint venture agreed in March 2025. It aims to deepen cooperation and expand travel options across routes for both airlines. The agreement will allow Etihad passengers to access more than 55 destinations in 33 Africa through Addis Ababa, while Ethiopian travelers will improve connectivity to 20 destinations through Abu Dhabi, Asia, the Middle East and Australia. The transaction is expected to support the growth of tourism in the region and strengthen trade through stronger transport links.
