UK Foreign Ministry Issues Emergency Los Angeles Travel Warning | Travel News | Travel

The UK Foreign Office has issued a new travel warning to anyone planning to fly to the US. In the latest update, authorities advise travelers to pay attention, with a particular emphasis on Los Angeles, particularly when visiting California. With travel advice to the US under the title “Los Angeles Demonstration and Protest,” they warn travelers about the latest developments coming to the city.

They said, “There are demonstrations and protests in Los Angeles. Media reports suggest that police responses include the use of flash bangs, tear gas, pepper balls and rubber/sponge bullets.”

For this reason, they urge tourists to:

Monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities to avoid confusion away from crowds and demonstrations

The warning follows the deployment of hundreds of National Guard troops in response to President Donald Trump's protests against the movement against illegal immigration amid rising tensions in Los Angeles. California Governor Gavin Newsom said in a press release: “The federal government is taking over the California State Guard and is about to deploy 2,000 soldiers. The movement is intentionally inflammatory and only escalates tension.

“LA officials have access to law enforcement assistance right away. We work closely with the city and county and don't need to be met at this time. The security guards are brilliantly serving LA during their recovery. This is a wrong mission and erodes the trust of the people.”

On social media, he branded the president as a liar, writing, “Donald Trump is a cold liar of stones,” and he posted X in a video clip on the news, opposing enforcement. He also wrote in X: “California – Don't give Donald Trump what he wants. Speak up. Stay in peace.

“Please stay calm. Don't respect law enforcement officers who do their best to maintain peace without using violence.”

Around 4 million people live in Los Angeles, and the BBC News reporting conflict began in LA on Friday. They said: “CBS, the BBC's US partner, reports that as many as 118 arrests have been made this week as a result of an ICE operation, including 44 on Friday.

“The federal building in downtown LA has since become the focus of the demonstration after it was revealed that detainees were allegedly being held in the building.”

According to CBS, the building was subject to graffiti with objects, leading to an illegal parliamentary declaration. The BBC added: “On Saturday, the LA County Sheriff's Office said another protest occurred in Paramount City over what appears to be another migrant attack.

“As many as 400 people were involved in the protests, said LA County Sheriff Robert Luna. The department then declared an illegal assembly in an attempt to disband protesters “without violence.”
