Beautiful country with fewer crowds than Greece, Spain and Portugal 'Better' | Travel News | Travel

Greece, Spain and Portugal are popular destinations and it's easy to see why. All three countries are luxurious and offer different things. Unfortunately, many are full of tourists during the summer. So for those looking for peace and tranquility, they may not be the best choice. Fortunately, according to some travelers, there are better alternatives.

Montenegro is a small country in the Adriatic Sea and shares borders with Croatia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania. It may not be much known, but its gorgeous coastline, clear waters and medieval towns have earned praise from holiday makers who say they are just as beautiful as their more famous destinations, with no crowds. The country is home to the Bay of Kotor, which is often listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site compared to the fjords.

The bay is surrounded by mountains and is lined with historic towns such as Kotor and Perusto.

According to TripAdvisor reviews, many visitors found it more peaceful than the Greek islands and the Spanish coast.

One wrote: “Montenegro stole my heart. The local seafood tasted even fresh, and he added that the scenery was “crazy.”

They continued: “Greece was great, but the cliffs and medieval walls of Kotor Bay blew me away. Wandering through the old town of Kotor, I loved how Montenegro felt, more peaceful than Athens or Santorini, and the much less chaos of Tour Bus.”

Another visitor who recently traveled to the Algarve, Portugal, said: “Last summer, I toured the coast of Portugal's Algarve, where I saw some lovely beaches, bustling towns, but Montenegro left a much larger mark.

“The Adriatic coastline is amazing, but it's not completely crowded compared to Portugal in the summer. The beaches in Jaz and Mogren felt like a private retreat.”

The third traveler said Montenegro is even better than Spain. They stated:

“Budová and Tibat Beach Days spend just a small portion of the Spanish resort, but the views are spectacular.”

The coastal town of Badova is extremely popular among people traveling to Montenegro. It is known for its beaches, nightlife and the old town.

Furthermore, inland, places like Durmitor National Park run through mountain views, hiking trails and even the Tara River Valley.

One traveler said: “In just a few hours, I went from the pebbly beach in Badva Riviera to the snow-covered summit of Damitor National Park.”

According to many people, Montenegro is more budget-friendly than other European hotspots.

One review stated, “Budová and Tibat Beach Days were just a part of a Spanish resort, but the views are spectacular.”

What makes Montenegro even more special is its size. The country is small and very easy to explore.

According to visitors, you can hike in the morning, visit the beach by the afternoon, and have dinner on the water in the evening.

Many say it is one of the few places in Europe where you can enjoy the mountains and coastlines on the same day.
