South African careers join the Saber travel market, expanding access and accelerating growth
Saber Corporation (NASDAQ:SABR), a leading software and technology provider supporting the global travel industry, today announced a new multi-year distribution agreement with Lift, one of South Africa's fastest growing airlines. Through this strategic partnership, Lift's domestic content has now been made available through the Sabre Travel Marketplace, a multi-source platform that enables travel agents around the world to efficiently access, compare and book air content.
Founded in 2020, Lift quickly established itself as a premium low-cost carrier with a flexible customer-first approach. Flights between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban allow the airline to accommodate both leisure and business travelers. Lift's outstanding mounting experience, including dog-friendly flights and unlimited servings of Vida ECaffè's premium South African coffee, has helped to increase the affinity of the strong brand in the South African market.
In 2024, Lift reported on its continued network and passenger growth, taking advantage of the surge in domestic demand and the growing interest in the differentiated airline experience. By joining Saber's global travel market, the airline is well positioned to further expand its reach and leverage its wide network of travel sellers, including online travel agents, corporate booking tools, and TMC in Africa and beyond.
“The partnership with Saber is an exciting growth step for Lift,” said Cilliers Jordaan, Lift's chief commercial officer. “We have built a strong presence in South Africa, but are now ready to expand even further by increasing the availability of content to the global travel agency community. Saber's extensive network and multi-source content approach will help us support our mission to reach new audiences, promote sales and deliver seamless, uplifting travel.”
Saber Travel Marketplace supports traditional, low-cost, NDC content integration in one place. Airlines like Lift help customers meet their expectations for choice, flexibility and personalization. For agencies connected to the Sabre, the addition of lifts means greater access to high-quality local content and the ability to provide more value to travelers in South Africa.
“The lift is a great example of how innovation and customer focus can drive real momentum in the aviation space,” said Alessandro Ciancimino, Vice President of Distribution for Saber's Airlines. “The addition to the Saber Travel Marketplace not only enhances content delivery, it marks another important step in growth across the African region. We are proud to support our lift ambitions by providing wider vision, enhanced reach and powerful tools that provide a more dynamic and relevant travel experience.”
As of May 14, 2025, pre-orders are now available for live use on Saber.
