Tanzania has announced reductions in licensing fees for local investors in the accommodation and tour sector as part of a broader strategy to boost tourism and empower domestic businesses. By presenting the 2025/26 budget to Congress, Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism Dr. Pindi Chana confirmed that five-star hotels will pay down from $2,500 to $1,500 (from $2,500) for tourism licence. Additional fee reductions include registration reductions from the registration authority and an annual tour guide license, and all payments are currently required in Tanzanian Shilling.
The government is also abandoning park admission fees for licensed tour guides, increasing funds to combat poaching and enhance wildlife conservation. Tanzania Wildlife Control Agency (TAWA) and Tanzania National Park Service (Tanapa) receive TSH17 billion and TSH184.8 billion respectively, with a portion of Tanapa's allocation heading towards the modern control room in Serengeti National Park. These reforms form part of the 10 strategic priorities for next year, focusing on expanding tourism, improving conservation infrastructure and easing regulatory barriers for local operators.
