Israel's Flag – Career El Al chose to reconfigure another Boeing 777-200ER.
The airline has renovated part of the 777 with a 313-seat high-density layout featuring business, premium economy and economy cabins, matching the interior of the 787.
At the end of the first quarter, the carrier operated five 777s, three of which consisted of 313 seats, with a sixth car park. The other two Active 777s come with 279 seats.
El Al revealed in its first quarter financial statements that the sixth aircraft had decided to “enter the renovation” for refit and that it had been made to return it to service in a “Dreamliner configuration.”
The company has experienced high demand beyond its availability as competition with foreign airlines at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv has declined.
El Al reached a contract during the quarter to purchase the three Boeing 737-800s that were leased to the airline, and to purchase the leased CFM International CFM56 engine for the type for around $54 million.
The airline has also invested in the acquisition of narrow body fleet simulators to improve the capabilities of the new training centre. The center was operated last year with two 787 simulators and a simulator for the 737.
El Al has been subject to fleet expansion and modernization, and has also won the Max Jets of the Boeing 787 and 737. We received a new 787-9 and turned the type fleet to 17.
