Egypt will roll out the pilot phase of its new digital emergency Visaon Erival System in mid-June, initially testing at Cairo International Airport.

On May 15, 2025, the Minister of Tourism and Bones Chaired a strategic meeting to confirm the implementation of a new e-visa arrival system at Egypt Airport. Designed to address the management bottlenecks travellers face when they arrive in Egypt, the system will begin its pilot phase in Cairo in mid-June.

Acting under the direction of the Prime Minister's Prime Minister, Sheriff Fassy's Minister of Tourism and Antiques convened a high-level Ministrian meeting at the ministry's headquarters. The goal was to review operational details of the new system, which aims to issue emergency visas when they arrive to travelers from different countries.

Developed in close collaboration with the ministries of civil aviation, finance and digital transformation, along with the company responsible for the technology development of the project, the new system is designed to streamline input procedures and reduce congestion at Egyptian airports.

According to a statement from the ministry, travelers can quickly obtain a visa upon arrival using a QR code that identifies the airports participating in the program.

To speed up the process, a self-service kiosk is installed in the arrival area and a dedicated mobile app is launched. The app allows travelers to upload necessary documents and make payments after landing or after landing.

Gradually rolling out from mid-June 2025

The system will be first launched as a pilot at Cairo International Airport from mid-June 2025. This phase aims to identify logistics challenges and fine-tune the process before expanding the programme to all Egyptian airports.

Minister Sherif Fassy stressed that the initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize Egypt's tourism infrastructure. It is consistent with the country's ongoing work to enhance the traveler's experience and enhance Egypt's appeal as a tourist destination.
