ValueJet Managing Director Omololu Majekodunmi said the airline's first flight to Banjul, Gambia, will further strengthen trade ties between Nigeria and Gambia.

As Omolor expressed his trust in the Lagos Banjururu route, backed by the deployment of the CRJ-900 aircraft, he reaffirmed the airline's commitment to safe and efficient operation in full compliance with all regulations.

“The launch from Lagos to Banjul Flight is an even more important milestone in Valuejet's vision of increasing regional connectivity and contributing to West Africa's economic growth. Our commitment is to make travel within the continent more accessible and efficient with low fares of N500,000,” he said.

He further said that the connection with Lagos Banjul is set to strengthen economic ties and promote tourism between Nigeria and the Gambia.

According to him, the route provides great opportunities for trade, investment and cultural exchange between the Gambia's growing tourism sector and Nigeria's bustling business environment.

The new service supports businesses by bridging distances within the region and providing faster and more efficient travel options.

The airline's first flight to Banjul on May 15, 2025 was marked by cutting ribbons in front of a check-in counter at Lagos' Murtaramhamed International Airport, marking the official opening of the route.

The attendees were the Gambia ambassador to Nigeria, Mohammadumoosa Ni, Director of Tourism Promotion, Gambia Tourism Board, Tracy Osakuwe, High Commissioner for Gambia, Ansumana Sheesai and media personalities such as Isaac and Nuka Moses of Gorge Africa.

The new route reflects ValueJet's commitment to increasing regional connectivity and expanding its footprint across West Africa.

The airline has launched flights to link major cities across the continent and provide travelers with efficient travel options.

In addition to flights from Lagos to Banjul, ValueJet will connect travelers on their domestic network to Banjul and expand their services.

The Gambian government has expressed its readiness to support carriers and their passengers, acknowledging the airline's plans to promote regional integration.
