Low-cost operator Vietjet has confirmed that it will deliver its first example in October, so it will move its new Boeing 737 Max aircraft to the Thai unit.
Vietnamese operators say the move will “substantially expand” Thai businesses, particularly strengthening ties between Vietnam and Thailand.
The agreement was signed by the sidelines of a state visit that Thai Prime Minister Paetong Tarun Sinawatra had visited Vietnam.
Vietjet has orders for the largest aircraft of the 200 737, consisting of a mixture of up to 8S, up to 10S, and high density MAX 8-200.
Vietjet Tha operates the Airbus A320 and A321 from the hub at Svarnabumi Airport in Bangkok. There is a network of domestic and international points to Vietnam, Southeast Asia, Japan, China and India.
Leaded by a 737 Max service entry with Vietjet Thay, Boeing provides pilot, maintenance, engineer training and product service support to its carriers.
This announcement is the latest update on the status of Vietjet Boeing orders placed in 2016 and 2018.
On May 9, Vietjet said it would forward around 20 737s to its newly set up subsidiary Vietjet Qazaqstan.
