A picturesque seaside town in Suffolk, Lowstoft proudly holds the unique title of being the first place in the UK to watch the sunrise every day. Located at the easternmost edge of the country, this charming coastal destination is Ness Point, a scenic spot that attracts early risers and nature lovers. Marked with an impressive circular metal plate, Ness Point offers the perfect perspective to see the sky brightening with a kaleidoscope of colour as the sun peers above the horizon.

During the summer bliss, the town is brought to life with visitors traveling overnight to witness the spectacular sunrise. For those planning an early morning trip, we recommend parking on Wild Street and taking a short walk in the ocean.

Lowestoft isn't just a beautiful dawn. It is a town of change, with major regeneration projects set up to strengthen both the seaside and town centre. The £4.9 million beachfront development is expected to be completed in May 2025, with improved accessibility with a two-storey restaurant and cafe area, modern leisure units and new lifts for beach fans with mobility needs and push chairs. The renovated Jubilee Parade also includes new public toilets and changing facilities. Everything is expected to be completed by next summer.

Furthermore, the town centre of Lowestoft is set for an incredible evolution. The upcoming Cultural Quarter project will transform Battery Green Parking and its surrounding area into a thriving community hub. The plan includes new cafes, restaurant spaces, studios and leisure areas, which will help solidify Lowestoft's reputation not only as a coastal escape but also as a cultural destination.

These exciting developments are ongoing, but visitors can enjoy many current attractions. The East Point Pavilion, a beautifully restored Victorian glass building, regularly hosts film screenings, yoga sessions, and artisan markets. A must-see for horse riding along the beach, and Pakefield Riding School offers sessions for all skill levels.

For those keen to explore the town's heritage, Score (a narrow pathway carved into the cliff) offers attractive walking tours, while Lowestoft Maritime Museum, East Anglia Transportation Museum and Lowestoft Museum offer deeper insights into the area's rich past.

Family enjoy Pleasure Wood Hills Family Theme Park, with over 30 rides and attractions and beach enthusiasts pampering themselves for their choice. Lowestoft South Beach has golden sand perfect for sunbathing, offering peaceful coastal strolls along with the quiet North Beach and nearby Pakefield and Gantondeness Beach.

Located just two hours from Cambridge and 80 minutes from Ipswich, Lowestoft is the perfect British seaside escape and can be the first person to welcome this day.
