The Stephen F. Udvar Hazy Centre at the National Air and Space Museum will be holding its annual “Innovation” on Saturday, June 14th from 10am to 3pm. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, this year's event will include several World War I-era trainers, fighter jets, bombers and military reenactors. Additional aircraft expected to participate include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) WP-3 Hurricane Hunter, the A400 Atlas, and various civilian aircraft. A free pass is required to view the outdoor display and can be booked on the museum website from 7pm on May 13th

“Innovating Flight Outdoor Aviation Displays” explores the engineering and design achievements of flights over the past century. Visitors can talk to pilots and explore the aircraft's cockpit and cabin. Inside the museum, programming will focus on the US home front during the war, as part of the museum's “soaring together in aerial space” Family Day series. Special activities for families and children include demos by the Smithsonian Ham Radio Club, Morse Code activities, coloring “Flyable” planes, meeting recreators, and swing dancing in live bands. Passes do not require you to visit or participate in activities within the museum.

“Flight Innovation” will be possible through United Airlines support. “Soar Together” was made possible through the support of Northrop Grumman. For more information about the museum and “innovating planes,” visit the museum's website.

“Innovation Inflight” is one of the museum's most popular events and attracts a large crowd. The museum has parking, but public transport is also available from the Fairfax Connector 983 bus. Schedule, route and fare information is available.

The National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC, is located at Dr. Jefferson between 4th and 7th Avenues and is open daily from 10am to 5:30pm except on December 25th, with the exception of December 25th, with admission free, but you will need to visit. The Stephen F. Udvor Hazy Center is located in Chantilly, Virginia, near Washington Dulles International Airport, and is open daily from 10am to 5:30pm until December 25th.
