As summer approaches, many of us are planning a holiday to make the most of our lounge from something like the best beaches in Europe, or perhaps by the pool with a swim-up bar. Another added bonus is making the most of your holidays without exceeding your budget. Even if you plan on traveling during busy summer months, there are several ways to avoid excessive prices.
Ensuring that you are ready before you go to the airport is guaranteed to always save money, especially in destinations where food can be priced. Avoiding destinations, which are tourist hot spots where hotel and restaurant prices are often driven, can also help you grow your budget even further, as transportation is often more expensive in areas where there is even more demand. Some destinations are cheaper than others, but if you're looking at your next holiday and don't want to compromise on location, you might want to consider when you're leaving instead.
Kayak's new summer savings report revealed the best time to bag your international trip and avoid crowds. Summer is a particularly busy time, meaning schools will be disbanded, especially due to holidays. That means more people are traveling.
However, it is also an ideal time to escape, especially if you want sunlight. The report does not suggest that you avoid leaving altogether at this time of year, but if you are looking for savings, you may want to book a holiday.
Based on the findings of travel websites, June and September are the best months to fly without breaking the bank. They have slightly missed the surge in school holidays, but they still guarantee a sunny escape.
The report found that international return flights from the UK are only £491 in mid-July, £233 in September, and £558 less than their peak prices in July.
They also revealed that the busiest days to fly were July 18 and 19, with domestic flight prices falling to £94 in early June and £92 by mid-September.
“We've got a lot of effort into making our customers more comfortable,” said Rachel Mumford, a travel expert at Kayak. “Winter cold is declining and wanderlust is intensifying. The great news is that so many popular destinations are seeing prices fall this summer.
Travel search engines also have useful tools. This means that travelers can save money, search for holidays that avoid crowds, and use the best time to gain extensions.
