The meeting saw Aercap CEO Aengus Kelly and Ahmed Adel Grand 19, chair of Egyptair Holding Company, gathering together to explore new paths for collaboration. The partnership is the basis of Egypt Air's operational strategy as AERCAP already funds 28 aircraft in Egypt Air's fleet, and employs the Boeing 777-300ers, Airbus A320/321neos, and Boeing 787-9S. Almost 40% of Egyptian fleet operates under a lease agreement with AERCAP, highlighting the key role of lessors in the growth of the airline.
“This partnership will allow us to integrate cutting-edge aircraft and support operational efficiency, environmental sustainability and increased customer experience,” Adele University said. The discussion focused on fitting Egyptian fleets to global aviation trends. In particular, demand for fuel-efficient aircraft is growing amid the ongoing supply chain challenges and delays in delivery from manufacturers.
Reporting 112 lease agreements and 49 asset purchases in the first quarter of 2025 alone, Aercap says it is well-placed to support Egypt's ambitions. “Egypt is an important partner in Africa and the Middle East and we are proud to support their ambitious growth strategies,” Kelly said. “Our collaboration reflects our shared commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring that Egypt remains a leader in global aviation.”
The central focus of the partnership is sustainability, with the two companies prioritizing modern fuel-efficient aircraft to reduce carbon emissions and fuel consumption. This is in line with Egypt's broader strategy to expand its network while meeting growing travel demand in Africa, the Middle East and other countries.
