A beautiful seaside town that is the most sunniest place in the UK with 35C fever | Travel News | Travel

Although the UK is known for its lack of the best weather, there are still several spots across the country that are often immersed in glorious temperatures that resemble the Mediterranean than the English Channel. With summer approaching and the country is beginning to enjoy mini heat waves at 25c, Brits are looking for destinations where they can make the most of the sunny weather.

Now, the UK's most sun-minded locations have been revealed. Using Met Office data, independents have compiled a list. Shanklin, a small town on the Isle of Wight, has taken the top spot. A study in this paper revealed that between 1991 and 2020, the Isle of Wight enjoyed an average of 5 hours and 8 minutes of sunlight per day. In August 2020, a swell temperature of 35.4C was recorded on Ryde on the northeast coast, making it the hottest place on the island.

The seaside resort town of Shanklin is located in Sanddown Bay on the southeast coast of Isle of Wight. According to the 2021 census, around 7,200 residents enjoy the light weather every day.

Shanklin spans part of Long Beach between Yeverlands to the north and Lukom to the south. The beach section next to Shanklin is divided into Small Hope Beach and Hope Beach. Above Hope Beach is a number of traditional seaside attractions, including a recreational arcade, a crazy golf course, and a play area for children, along with a ball pool and a bouncy castle.

At the southern tip of the beach is Shanklyng Chine, a wooded coastal valley with waterfalls, trees and vegetation, from which the town historically takes the name “Chynklyng Chine.” Sidewalks and sidewalks allow visitors to explore and learn about the heritage centre's local history.

The impressive Dunnoscape is located southwest of the town and serves as an important landmark for the UK map. It is also a site of several shipwrecks, the most famous HMS Eurydice, which sank in 1878 with the loss of 300 people.

Shanklin is also a great option for shopping trips. The main shopping centre consists of two roads, Regent Street and High Street, making up the largest retail area on the south of the island. Here you will find arts and crafts, clothing stores, bakeries, local shops, and plenty of tourist shops and restaurants.

Finally, Shanklin is where Charles Darwin wrote about the origins of the iconic species during his 18-month visit to town.

Returning to mainland England, Kent County boasts the most sunshine, averaging 4 hours and 47 minutes per day. This was followed by neighbouring East Sussex. This was just a minute behind, with an average of 4 hours and 46 minutes of sunlight.

All ten of the brightest places in the UK were given to British destinations. That being said, Wales missed the top spot at Barry, nine miles southwest of Cardiff (also known as the Balibados nickname). Here, locals enjoy the impressive sun of 4 hours 28 minutes per day.

Meanwhile, Dundee is Scotland's most sunshine city, with four and a half hours of sunlight. However, Northernation also claimed the unfortunate title of Inverness, the dullest city in the whole of Britain. Here, residents are only thicker than 2 hours and 53 minutes a day.
