Sunbed Wars explodes at Lanzaroth Resort when British tourists clash | Travel News | Travel

As the annual Sunbed Wars continues to grasp Europe, two British tourists have been captured in a fierce debate over sunbeds at a hotel in Lanzaroth.

In a video filmed by a fellow guest column line, a woman dressed in pink accuses another British tourist of occupying the sunbeds her group allegedly used throughout the week. She threatens to report the matter to hotel management, leading to a tense exchange between the parties. “You chose the wrong person,” replies Sun Lounger on the Sun Lounger. “I'll turn around and leave.”

Mr Lines, 31, from Leamington Spa, can be heard calling the pink woman “Karen” during the exchange.

“There were a lot of beds available – this was really not necessary as they were all exposed to equal sunlight,” he later commented. “You'll leave for rest and relaxation.”

The signs near the pool are not visible in the video, but they clearly stated that sunbeds to book are not permitted, Britt added. However, it is unclear whether that policy is in force.

The pink woman accused others of moving the group's belongings. The woman in the sunbed said it wasn't true, it was about getting her facts right. A male guest beside her told the woman to “leave,” but another holiday maker, wearing a black bikini and cap, tried to intervene.

According to the Line, the pink woman eventually left to talk to hotel staff, but the manager did not appear during the incident.

Police were not called and the hotel did not comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, in Tenerife, tourists were arrested for trying to make room for sunbeds on the floor before hotel staff put out loungers. In a scene called “surreal” by fellow tourists, guests from several popular resorts were found with towels, flip-flops and beach bags on the ground just hours before the sunbed set off that day.

“It's like a military operation out there,” wrote one social media user. “People literally secure tiles.”

Some hotels have been forced to tighten rules prohibiting guests from booking sunbeds that are not used.
