The most visited cities in 2023 are even more accessible for UK tourists as new direct flights are expected to be launched this July. Earlier this year, Bristol Airport announced it would expand its number of destinations it offers to travelers, including Istanbul, Turkey's largest city.

Passengers can now fly to Istanbul Airport (IST) on Monday and fly on easyJet on Friday. However, from July, the British will be able to fly to their beloved Eurasian country on Pegasus Airlines heading to Sabihagoksen Airport (saw). Direct flights work three times a week.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport is a secondary international airport serving Istanbul, located 20 miles southeast of the city centre in the Asian part of the transcontinental city. Meanwhile, Istanbul Airport is located 39 miles west on the European side. New flights mean that travelers will be easily given access to both areas of the city.

“Istanbul Holiday promises an unforgettable mix of the East and West, and must-see views of Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Top Kapi Palace and the bustling Grand Bazaar,” Bristol Airport said.

“Wandering through the vibrant streets of Sultanahmet, cruise through Boshors and tasting authentic Turkish cuisine at local eateries.

“From Bristol to Istanbul Airport (IST), it is located on the European side, and is ideal for central access or Sabihagoksen Airport (saw) on the Asian side.

On the European side, the Fati district corresponds to all of Constantinople until the conquest of the Ottoman Empire. Despite its development as a Turkish city since the 1920s, Istanbul contains monuments to many ancient, Roman, Byzantine, Christian, Muslim and Jewish people. The most ancient monument is the Thutmose III obelisk, erected 100 feet tall with red granite.

The iconic Sultan Ahmed Mosque is also known as the “blue mosque” because of the blue Iznik tiles that adorn the interior. It's right behind the obelisk.

According to Skyscanner, flights to Istanbul in June begin at around £82 each way on EasyJet. New Pegasus flights are also available for £90.

However, it is recommended that travelers immediately make sure they book their flights on the day they have a direct route. Otherwise, your tickets could be doubled.
