Spain’s chaos as flights delayed and airports leak after a serious downpour | Travel News | Travel

Passengers are facing major delays in Spain due to the storm that cleaned up Mallorca on Tuesday morning. Most arrivals at Palma de Malorca Airport were affected by Ana, the Spanish Airport Authority, but no cancellation was required.

Some check-in and boarding areas had to be closed as they had leaked the roof, and some check-in and boarding areas had to be closed for the water. In my son’s Sainte-Jaan departure zone, which is now closed for renovations, buckets had to be introduced to catch water dripping from the upper floors. Sources confirmed that Palma de Marolca Airport must implement traffic control measures for the cumulus clouds.

Towering vertical clouds usually form from condensed water vapor carried upward by a powerful airflow, which can result in ice formation on top of the ice.

Airport workers and cleaning staff are reportedly working to clean the floors to prevent accidents early in the morning, placing buckets under the leak.

Spanish weather agency AEMET predicts rain will continue on the island, with a concentrated, heavy downpour and storms, but the weather is predicted to be clear in the afternoon.

The wind remains medium to light, with coastal breezes in the afternoon.

Spain has been affected by harsh weather for several days, and AEMET introduced a yellow weather warning on May 5th, including Catalonia. Ena warned passengers yesterday to pay attention to X.

On May 4th, Barcelona was experiencing extreme weather at Josep Taraderas Airport. Posted on X: “If you are flying, we recommend checking the flight status with your airline.”
