The British love Spain and are gushed into the sunny climate of millions each year.

However, one area of this top destination flew under the radar, almost freeing from tourists, winning spots in the top 50 quiet locations of Condé Nast Travelers around the world.

Arribes del Duero is said to be full of “seasonal silence” and is one of the most populous places in Europe.

David Moralejo wrote to CN travelers: “In autumn, after the grape harvest, heroic bitch-grown wines steal your words. Everything will be golden – olives, mulberry, pomegranate and orange trees await the moment.

Conversely, in winter: “Frost draws a landscape of tranquility that takes over the village. The stove boils the ancestral plates. Spring brings a blanket of flowers, such as white and yellow flowers, lavender, jasmine, and cerapirates.

“In summer, it means that diving into hidden watering holes is always on the table, and Siesta's time will be out of sound unless it's for the cicada.”

Protected is the Del Duero River in western Spain, where the Duro River forms the natural boundary with Portugal.

The valley, formed by river paths, is the deepest in Spain, reaching up to 500 meters above sea level, creating a microclimate similar to that of the Mediterranean forest.

This is a protected area recognized by the EU for animals such as the Golden Eagles and Black Swan, and features a waterfall that rises 50 meters in front of tourists, so don't forget to take your camera.

The area also has a history as deep as the valley, with Tregamon shepherd's shepherd's sheephouse giving visitors insight into past life in the area.

A variety of delicacies are all served, including ewe cheese, local beef varieties and Iberian pork, all washed away with local wine.

The enthusiastic hikers will find enough to continue occupying them. There are plenty of hiking routes through gorgeous terrain, leading to a perspective that offers unparalleled views of this impressive area.

It may be time to book a trip to the quiet side of Spain with a number of tour companies offering package deals to explore all the different attractions listed here.
