British holiday makers face many strict tourism restrictions at many highly popular destinations. However, there is one sunny spot with warm temperatures and beautiful scenery, allowing Britons to escape without facing new rules.

A Greek island in the Aegean Sea, Thassos is a great alternative to busy islands like Crete and Mykonos, both of which welcome millions of tourists each year. Thassos is a northern island in Greece and may be slightly cooler than the southern island, but the luxurious destination still boasts temperatures of up to 23 degrees.

And when it comes to making the most of the refreshing weather, people are definitely spoiled for choice in all the coastal spots that are relaxed.

The island's coastline extends to 95 km, with about 60 beaches reported by telegraph. A rich selection, whether you're looking for a place to sunbathe, or want to explore or take part in some water sports, there's something for you.

According to Tripadvisor, the Golden Beach at Thassos, rated 4.4 stars, is the island's best. This is an opinion supported by Greeks from Italy. The visitors said: “Because we are Greek, this beach is one of the top beaches in the country.

“Very spacious, filled with sand and great water. Perfect for families. All the amenities are available, easy to reach, with parking, restaurants and a supermarket within 5 minutes' walking distance. Enjoy fantastic views of the mountains on the back.”

Paradise Beach is famous for its tropical vibe surrounded by lush vegetation, and features soft white sand with turquoise waters. This dreamy spot, likened to the stunning Caribbean scenery, is perfect for a relaxing swimming.

Like many Greek destinations, Thassos is rooted in a rich history that can be experienced through the island's archaeological sites and rather small villages. Also known as Thesas Town, Limenas is the island's capital and the ultimate place for history lovers.

During a summer walk, explorers will find the gates of Zeus and Hera, the ancient theatre of Tassus, and the ruins of the ancient Agora. There is also an archaeological museum filled with crafts from various times. This is named by Tripadvisor as the best thing to do in town.

One visitor emphasized that “it's worth visiting,” said “The Archaeological Museum in Tassos is very interesting and worth visiting even for small children. Tassos has a very long history and many archaeological discoveries are preserved.”
