Korean Airlines plans to establish the city's Air Force Mobility and Aviation Safety Centre to boost South Korea's aerospace innovation.

Carriers who have extensive aerospace experiences through Korean Air Aerospace (or KAL-ASD) units will invest W1.2 trillion ($844 million) in the location. The centre is located in Bucheon, west of Seoul, the capital of Seoul, near Incheon.

The center's groundbreaking event will be held in 2027 and will be operated in May 2030. It covers more than 10 soccer fields and employs 1,000 staff for research and development.

The focus area includes research and safety tracking of unmanned aircraft for airline staff.

Additionally, the centre will be claimed to be the largest pilot training facility in the Asia-Pacific region, integrating training for Korean Air and Asiana Air squadrons. South Korea recently concluded the acquisition of other major airlines in the country.

“This is more than just a facility, it's Korea's future launchpad in aviation,” says Career.

“Through our bold investment in research, training and technology, we are laying the foundation for leading the future of air mobility, while deepening our commitment to safety, sustainability and global connectivity.”
