{KXLG – SD, Brookings County} The Brookings County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle collision on SD13 near 216th Avenue on Friday, April 25, 2025, around 8:59pm.
Jose Martinez, 23, of Elkton, SD, was driving the 2008 Honda Civic when he encountered a northbound case sprayer spin at the sheriff's office. The citizen and the sprayer collided, negating damage to Honda.
Martinez was taken to Brookings ER by Elkton Ambulance for an unknown injury. Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the accident, and Martinez was arrested after being released from hospital.
The case spray driver was identified as Haydenstein, 35, of Elkton.
Total damage from the collision is still estimated. The Brookings County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the incident.
