The Anti-Poaching K9 Camp has officially opened at Mdluli Safari Lodge in Kluger National Park, enhancing conservation efforts in the area. Launched International Earth Day 2025, the facility serves as a hub for rangers and specialist sniffer dogs to work together to combat wildlife crime. The camp is located under the newly established Mdluli Conservation and Anti-Survey Reserve, near Pretorius Cop, and is now possible through funding from Italian donors, including tour operator IL Diamante.
This initiative has already brought results. Four arrests, training more than 40 rangers, and removal of nearly 3,000 snares and 150 alien plants. Partners involved in the project were recognized in certificates of assessment at the opening ceremony, featuring stakeholders from Sunparks, Mdluli Safari Lodge and private conservation groups. Authorities highlighted how multi-stakeholder collaboration will enhance conservation outcomes, highlighting the key link between wildlife conservation and the growth of sustainable tourism.
