Tourists have urged to “never” select three dates to book flights – “Airlines know this” | Travel News | Travel

If you're planning a holiday, you'll know that there are plenty of things that hotels, travel insurance, flights and food can all be summed up. However, there are some dates that are known to be more expensive than others when it comes to booking flights.

According to Expedia, booking flights on July 22nd, 23rd or 29th will incur the most expensive travel costs. Travel expert Jamie Fraser at Wild Packs American Summer Camp has revealed why you should avoid these three dates and how to save money on summer trips. He said: “July marks the beginning of school summer holidays.

“Parents with school-age children are mostly limited to this short window, making travel one of the busiest times. Airlines know this and tend to raise prices during these peak days.”

But that's not all bad news. Jamie shares his top tips for saving valuable pounds on his next holiday.

His first recommendation is to set up flight alerts.

He said: “You can save money a few months ago, but it's not always that easy. For example, prices don't always fall when a flight is first released. Instead of guessing, it's best to set price alerts using sites like Skyscanner or Google Flights.

Secondly, you can jump out of the small airport. Places like Heathrow and Gatwick are often more expensive than local airports. Jamie said: “If you have the flexibility, check out flights from small or local airports as your savings are worth it.”

The third way you can save money is to pop out on Saturday, not Friday. If you have flexibility in your schedule, you may see financial benefits.

Jamie said: “Flight prices vary by day of the week. Friday and Sunday are usually the most expensive, but Tuesdays tend to be the cheapest.
