Addis Ababa, April 22, 2025 (FMC) – Boeing Company today officially launched its Africa Regional Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alem Sime (Dr.), who presided over the inauguration, described the opportunity as a pivotal milestone in advancing Ethiopia's global vision for a more connected, rich African continent.

He emphasized that Ethiopia is implementing a comprehensive decade-long strategic roadmap under the leadership of the National Transport Council, aimed at modernizing infrastructure, reducing transportation and trade-related costs and strengthening continental connectivity.

Minister Alem has revealed that the government is working with its $74 billion investment portfolio with key areas such as railway systems, port development, aviation expansion and smart logistics solutions to work with private sector partners, including Boeing.

Expressing his gratitude to Boeing's executive leadership for his confidence in Ethiopia, Alem said: “We are committed to deepening this partnership through collaborations on aircraft component manufacturing, capacity building initiatives and sustainable aviation fuel fuel technology.”

He further argued that “together, we could turn Ethiopian airlines into a global supply chain powerhouse and position Addis Ababa as the epicenter of Africa's aerospace innovation.”

Alem emphasized that Boeing's establishment of an African office in Addis Ababa symbolizes not only the infinite possibilities of Ethiopia, but also the rise in the continent's role in promoting economic liberation, regional integration and global aviation progress.

The inauguration was attended by senior leaders and senior officials, including Boeing President Kurjit Gatta of the Middle East, Turkey, Africa and Central Asia, and Ethiopia's US ambassador, Irvin Massinga.
