Watch: Delta plane evacuated after engine fire

Passengers were forced to evacuate the Delta plane after an engine fired on the runway at Orlando International Airport in Florida.

Social media videos show smoke and flames rising from the right engine, causing passengers to leave the aircraft inflated emergency slide.

Delta Flight 1213 was set to depart Orlando, famous for its Disney World home, for Atlanta. There have been no reports of injuries.

“The passengers were evacuated. The aircraft rescue and firefighters responded immediately,” the airport said in a social media post.

The Airbus A330 carried 282 passengers, 10 flight attendants and two pilots, Delta said in a statement to CBS News, the BBC's US partner.

The airline said crews evacuated the cabin when flames were seen on some of the plane's two main engines.

Video taken from the terminal shows passengers waiting for the tarmac in an emergency vehicle parked next to the aircraft.

“We appreciate your cooperation and apologise for your experience,” Delta said.

“There's nothing more important than working to get customers to their final destinations as quickly as possible.”

The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate the incident.
