The creation of Malawi Tourism University, which upgrades existing research institutes, aims to build regional capacity by strengthening professional training within the sector. The reforms coincided with President Lazaro Chakwera's broader agenda that positions tourism as a key driver of national change. By replacing outdated legal frameworks, Malawi is now better placed to attract investment, strengthen its attraction as a destination, and unlock the full potential of natural and cultural assets.
