Rwanda will lead global sustainability with its historic plastic ban, ensuring a cleaner environment and attracting environmentally friendly travelers with stunning wildlife.

The African country has gained a global reputation for its cleanliness, mainly due to the groundbreaking plastic ban implemented in 2008.

Rwanda's commitment to environmental preservation is so strict that even tourist luggage is being checked for plastic bags. While the country's tourism sector continues to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is essential that UK travelers now note that foreign offices are advising all trips to Rwanda.

Renowned as one of the cleanest countries in the world, Rwanda sets an example of sustainable living by strict control over plastic waste. Since enforcing the plastic bag ban, the country has become a model for environmental responsibility. The ban is so successful that travelers need to inspect plastic bag luggage upon arrival, and everyone is confiscated.

The ongoing battle with Rwanda's pollution is part of a broader effort to promote sustainability. Every Saturday of the month, the entire country will be participating in Umuganda. Umganda is an essential community service day where citizens gather to clean public spaces and contribute to infrastructure development.
