Explore a brand new forest walk in Brahman Hills! – Tourist News Africa

Surrounded by a 1,000 hectares of Blue Crane Nature Reserve, the new 3km forest stroll in Brahman Hills offers an unusual opportunity for visitors to reunite with nature in an extraordinary way. Opened in 2024, this beautifully designed trail invites guests to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Midlands, whilst incorporating the energy and energy balance of South Africa's dynamic economy.

The forest is thousands of years old, according to Onwaba Gonyora, director of premier country retreat Brahman Hills. After becoming a quiet space that has once been uninterrupted, it is now adjacent to the N3, the main highway and economic lifeline that connects Johannesburg and Durban's bustling hubs. However, Gonyora and her team do not consider this to be negative. “In fact, the distant humility of vehicles traveling this busy route represents progress in movement. It is a small amount to pay for the daily momentum that drives our economy and keeps the lives of countless people alive. It can be imagined that natural and human businesses are a temperament of activities, respecting their environmental needs and values through thoughtful planning.”

Forest Walk is the brainchild of Ian Buchan, the founder of Brahman Hills and an avid adventurer with a passion for nature. Just three months ago, he tested his limits in extreme circumstances, such as the Antarctic Ice Marathon, so Bucan brings the same spirit of exploration to this quiet retreat. The walk begins near the huge 6-meter sculpture on the hill, and is an impressive new landmark for the N3, leading to a wooden passageway that snakes through the stunning nature reserve forest. As you explore, you may encounter zebras, impalas and wild beasties along the way, but bird lovers look forward to the various species of indigenous trees.

Goniola emphasizes that International Forest Day is celebrated on March 21st each year. This is a global event that raises awareness of the importance of sustainable forestry and conservation. “Brahman Hills recognizes that promoting a deeper assessment of nature is key to ensuring its protection. By encouraging visitors to engage with nature in new ways, Forest Walk serves as a powerful tool to raise awareness about the need for environmental conservation,” she says.

In addition to Forest Walk, Brahman Hills is home to the internationally award-winning gardens and will also host the popular Midland Park Run. This is a weekly event that encourages guests to stay active while taking advantage of the area's stunning natural beauty. Whether you're running, walking, or simply enjoying the scenery, Brahman Hills offers space for everyone to connect with nature in a meaningful way.

“We welcome to experience a walk in the forest, so whether it's an hour, a day, a weekend or a school holiday, we invite you. We want to meet you on the 'Neck of the Forest' and share the beauty of Brahman Hills,” Goniola finishes.
