Ryanair passengers revealed clever tricks to avoid paying for checked baggage during the trip.
Known for its budget-friendly flights, Ryanair is a popular option for those looking to explore new locations without breaking the bank. However, these low prices often come with additional costs, such as the fees to check your bags.
Anyone seeking to dodge these fees may be fined at the gate if the baggage exceeds the airline's size limit.
To avoid these additional costs, a frequent traveler named Rob, who regularly shares cost-saving travel hacks on Tiktok, decided to test the distances that allow him to extend his rules without incurring additional luggage charges.
In the video posted on April 5th, Rob is seen stuffing his belongings and stuffing Tenerife Island into a small bag.
“POV: You pack all your suitcases into a free Ryan airbag so you don't have to pay for your package,” he captioned the video. He then put each vacuum sealed bag in the backpack he had planned to ride on the flight.
After packaging, he weighed the bag in 17.19kg – more than seven kilos heavier than Ryanair's baggage allowance.
Despite the risks, they decided to proceed with the plan and left the bank with the bank about the possibility that airline staff would not check the weight of their luggage. The group's journey through the airport was captured smoothly in video.
He got on the plane without paying any extra fees, so he sighed for relief, avoiding the potential £55 fee of £55 at the gate and £13 for each kilometer that he added beyond the weight limit.
“Yes, the 4.5-hour Ryan Air flight to Tenerife was only £15, but that's not a point,” he said in a video post.
The video commenter immediately cried out with thoughts about the baggage trick, but some questioned how he would manage his return journey.
“How do you take everything home?” asked one commenter. A fellow viewer replied: “My vacuum bag came with a small hand pump. I thought it would hurt, but that's fine too!”
Another suggested using a household vacuum cleaner to recycle the bag, while others warned that measuring the measurements would quickly allow careful packaging to be reverted.
Trying a sleazy trick is definitely a risk, but as Rob showed, it could just pay off.
