American holiday makers detailed an awkward ordeal at the Louvre in Paris when targeted with a lightweight beam during their visit.
Maggie Bonga, originally from Nashville, Tennessee, jumped off in March 2025 for her cousin's exciting European vacation.
Upon arriving in Paris, enthusiastic tourists created a beeline for the Louvre. This is a name that resonates with the world as a mysterious sanctuary of Mona Lisa.
With enthusiasm, they plunged into capturing memories within the grandeur of the museum and creating Tiktok content. However, things quickly got worse.
Maggie's Tiktock clip has since won over 4.6 million views, capturing the moment when Green Laser Light suddenly smashed a photoshoot in front of a Parisian landmark.
“Did you experience someone else glowing at you while trying to take a photo abroad?” Maggie asked in the caption of the viral video.
This clip shows the group instinctively trying to protect their eyes from the obstructive beams and save the joy of their precious snaps.
The fuss has caused a flood of comments, others confess and speak of their own strange encounters with lightly sparkling locals during their international adventures.
“Someone did this to me once when I was a little kid at the mall. It's a mess,” one user revealed. Another person revealed: “I'm continuing to watch all the videos of people having problems like these in Paris. I was there six months ago and had nothing. The locals, the restaurant staff, the streets were clean.”
The third Tiktok user said, “You start looking into the general direction of that laser, find that person and start walking to them. Just an overly happy and cheerful ha ha.”
However, some viewers provided insight into the possible reasons for the mysterious light. One commenter explained that this light is often adopted by street vendors to attract tourists' attention, saying, “Yes, I went last summer, that's a street vendor trying to get your attention. I hated them.”
However, another individual assumed a different explanation: “It is used as a distraction technique for pickpocketing or fraud. Be careful.”
Meanwhile, France24 said the increasing challenges of overtourism in France were noted by others. This puts a cap on the daily number of visitors by a variety of tourist attractions. The Louvre is reportedly ready for a major update to manage the surge in tourist traffic.
