Taiwanese airline China Airlines has signed a preliminary contract for the 10 Airbus A350-1000, which will be used for long-distance services to Europe and North America.
The airline announced its first contract last December, part of a split order with Boeing.
Although they do not provide many details regarding the order of the A350, including delivery dates, Chairman Kao Shing-Hwang said the aircraft will complement the A350-900 and “play an important role in transforming long-range operations.”
Carrier is updating the -900 cabins through transactions that include interior decor expert Recaro.
All A350-1000s are powered by the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine.
China Airlines has acquired a total of 24 wide bodies for its modernization efforts. In addition to the A350-1000, we chose a 10 Boeing 777-9 and four 777-8 cargo ships.
The overall contract is valued at $11.8 billion.
China Airlines revealed earlier this month that it was introducing three A321neos under a 12-year lease with Aboron.
