The first photos of one African airport's impressive new terminal have been revealed, and the British can fly there in just three hours. Morocco's Casablanca Mohammed V Airport is expected to expand with a new terminal set and sophisticated design that will open by 2029. The huge new terminal has many outstanding features. It comes as Morocco grows as an increasingly popular destination for many tourists, including British vacationers.

The North African country has many unique experiences, including camel rides in the deserts and its historic cities. Casablanca is one of the nation's go-to destinations for travelers, many of which will soon be unveiling this brand new airport terminal set in just four years. In the meantime, the Morocco National Airport Office (ONDA) has shared some details about what passengers can expect at the new terminal, which is already being added to Morocco's biggest airport.

The terminal is H-shaped and consists of three stories, including a 3,700-meter runway and a new control tower. The terminal has green spaces lined with trees that passengers can enjoy before their flight.

Travelers are treated not only to VIP lounges that offer views of the runway, but also to rather large duty-free areas. The developers say the architectural design of the new airport terminal is inspired by the Atlantic. This is evident in the curved wave-like features of the building.

It also draws inspiration from classic Arab architecture. It is expected to have a capacity of 20 million passengers per year, determined based on the number of travel forecasts.

“This project is a true technical feat and an architectural masterpiece,” Onda said. “This latest infrastructure is aimed at enhancing modern transportation and improving the passenger experience.”

The new terminal also has a hotel on-site. It also provides direct access to the Kenitra-Marrakech High Speed Rail Line (LGV). This means that passengers diving into Casablanca have easy access to other exciting Moroccan destinations.

The mockup images teased what passengers could expect when visiting the airport. This includes the clever use of light and high ceilings, trees and plants that give the terminal a nice dash of colour.
