According to spokesman for Western Cape Regional Government, a storm linked to a massive wildfire in South Africa killed at least nine people. The storm system brought in very strong winds and caused floods in Cape Town, but lightning and winds in the east caused fires near Kysna and Plettenberg Bay.
The weather channel reports that four people died in a fire caused by lightning, and one other person died when the home collapsed. The other three died in another fire. Approximately 10,000 residents have evacuated.
